INTACH and BESTSELLER FUND have begun a pilot project which is called the Matching Grant Scheme. This project has been set up in order to promote restoration by local owners of their houses. This plan allows owners of listed heritage buildings to apply for funds to renovate and restore the facade of their homes.
Seeing the value in old bricks
The house owners will have to make an application to INTACH, and if INTACH finds the house worth renovating they will make an estimate. If the project is approved, the house owners will receive 50% of the costs from the Bestseller Fund. INTACH will take care of the restoration work. BESTSELLER FUND's aim with the Matching Grant Scheme is to make the citizens of the Tranquebar aware of the value of protecting their architectural heritage.
