The Danish Tranquebar Association was founded in 2002. The object of the association is to preserve the Danish colonial relic and monuments in Tranquebar, pass on knowledge of the Danish-Indian history in the area and create an Indian-Danish meeting and training place in the town.
The Danish Tranquebar Association has taken up different restorations projects including Fort Dansborg, the roof of the ”The Prayer hall”, gravestone and wall of the old Danish Church yard at Nygade.
The Bestseller Fund has a close co-operation with the Danish Tranquebar Association and has jointly funded a protection of the whole coastline of Tranquebar Panchayat with stone revetments in the sea in front of Tranquebar town.
